How To Face Your Fears And Start Practicing Handstands

(C) Natasha Nesic
  1. Get on the ground.
  2. Realize that the ground is undesirable because ew, germs.
  3. Find a convenient wall and gym floor instead.
  4. Be much better off with that decision, both for fewer biohazards and for safety. Because now you’re going to —
  5. — Put your feet on the wall.
  6. Pray.
  7. Let the wall carry you for a second.
  8. A few more seconds.
  9. Ignore how far your feet are up the wall. (It could be plank-height, for all I care. This is your first wallstand. That’s what matters.)
  10. Breathe.
  11. When you’re ready, step down.
  12. Try again.
  13. Do this as many times as it takes.
